Novartis Consumer Health is voluntarily recalling the Triaminic Vapor Patch, due to the risk of serious harm caused by accidental ingestion. The patch is marketed as a cough suppressant, for use in children at least two years old. According to the label, the patch should be applied to the child's throat or chest. However, such a location provides the opportunity for a child to remove and chew on the patch. Further, one of the patch's scents, mentholated cherry, may entice a child to put it in their mouth. Ingestion of the ingredients of the patch could cause headache, vomiting or even seizures.
