Recently, Delta Enterprises recalled almost 1.6 million of its cribs.  The recall came after two 8-month old babies died from suffocation after getting stuck in a gap in their cribs.  The cribs involved in the babies' deaths had drop sides that came off of their guide tracks and created a gap where the babies got stuck.  The Delta Enterprises recalled cribs were sold by major retailers such as Wal-Mart and Kmart, between 1995 and 2007.  No cribs currently in retail inventory are affected by the Delta Enterprises recall.  Some of the recalled cribs were manufactured in Taiwan and Indonesia, and some were made in China.  Consumers may obtain replacement safety pegs or spring peg kits from Delta Enterprises for the recalled cribs.  In light of the recall, the Consumer Product Safety Commission is urging parents to periodically check the functioning of their crib parts to ensure smooth and secure operation.  The agency is also developing additional safety standards for cribs.
